Jade and Sarsaparila 1976 “S/T” LP

Submitted by denny March 24th, 2010

I just found the actual Lp of this duo at the “Joan of Arc Thrift Shop”, it was 50 cents. I did a bit of snooping and found out some cool tidbits about these two women. I nipped the art from the internet and and the info (see link) that appears here as well. These 2 women went on to write 3 versions of “Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens”. The lyrics for some of the songs from this album are absolutely amazing considering that an album featuring two openly gay women in love was something else for the times I guess. I can’t wait to hear it.

Definitely a bold move for 1976 when the general public was just discovering there were gays amongst them let alone (gasp!) lesbians.

I knew just about every album that came out in those days but never heard of this one. Are the songs all sappy love songs or revolution anthems, i.e. all specifically gay?
