Horny Lamp

Last week I went to a different kind of estate sale. It was run by a professional cleaning service, not an estate sale company. The two sisters who owned the company just needed to get rid of all the crap in the San Fernando Valley house and having an estate sale seemed like the easiest way. Consequently the prices were incredibly low– too bad there wasn’t much in it that interested me, other than this bizarre lamp that I got for $3.00. I later learned that it’s from the early sixties and made by Breyer (not the ice cream, but the company that made all those plastic toy models of horses). So it actually might be somewhat collectible, which will be confirmed one way or another when I list it on eBay.

I love that the cleaning service held the sale. I can’t even imagine the crap they came across.

Although a little too tasteful for me, this is still a great horny lamp. I always wonder about the kind of people who buy something like this in the first place. Looks like something a decorator might have stuck in a man’s office in the 1970s. I’d love to see a bottle of English Leather sitting next to this.
