Excellent painting. he looks so sophisticated. I love the echoes of stained glass behind him.

I was an absolute Langston Hughes fanatic while writing The Color Purple. I have tons of his poetry books but the ones I cherish the most are some of the children’s books he wrote including explanations of what jazz and rhythms are.

I would have killed to have been around for The Harlem Renaissance.

I love that you made him highly purple.

Thanks Wind Up! I’d to look at hi children’s books. I’m not familiar with that part of his work…….I don’t recall it…..

I had a music teacher who actually had them…I’ve never possessed them myself…@ Allee.yeah the Harlem Renaissance would have been amazing to witness….makes me think about JUke Box Love Song..on of my favorite Hughes poems..that and Bad Morning, which I can presently relate to since this flu won’t leave! :) I used to be able to recite a lot of his stuff, but my memory’s not what it was.:)

Get rid of that flu! I’ve been very lucky to escape it so far but so many people are sick. The not so California California weather we’ve been having isn’t helping any either. FEEL BETTER.

The Langston Hughes children’s books are gorgeous. I’m always tempted to do one of my blog posts about one of them but realize I would be writing for days as everything in the books is written so well and the fonts and illustrations are just as good.
