The SYLVERS “Poodle Paradise” (vintage AND FABULOUS homemade sign!!!)

I had a fit over this. This was a christmas present from my partner. We were out a few days ago at the antique mall in Dennis, MA (it’s an indoor co-op) and I spotted this plaque. I about fell over and was torn between this and something else I saw. I ended up not getting anything that day, the dump “free” zone really spoils me. So this evening when we made our home-made pizza, I plopped my ass down on the couch and this package was staring back at me…..I almost choked.

I inhaled my pizza and quickly ripped this christmas present open with such intensity that the veins in my neck started to pulsate.

I can’t stand it! I live for this sort of thing and anything home-made with poodles gets an A in my kitsch book. This is unbelievable kitsch to me! It is 1 1/2 thick wood, and measures 24 x 12 inches and currently has some wire already attached and ready for hanging.

The poodle looks as if it was carved. Whoever did this, did an amazing job. The actual poodle measures 6 inches high.

    Really Spectacular!! Love what it says, what it is, that it’s handmade, that the beveling is accented with gold paint, that there are three different fonts on it, I love the shape of the wood, i.e. Everything is perfect!! The only thing that would make it better was if the Sylvers were THE Sylvers.

    I’m giving this the Camembert, the museum’s highest honor, under the assumption that this hung on The Sylver’s front door because they loved their little Fifi and Cupcake and and not that theirs was a poodle breeding establishment. Then it’s just a cute sign.

    Wow, this isn’t just an amazing sign, but also an awesome love story!!!! What a lovely present and yeah, it IS cool that it could be THE SYLVERS’ poodles!!!! :D And no matter what, a paradise for poodles is highly recommended…..

    Once upon a time down in New Orleans a few years ago, a friend and i had just exited the car when we came upon a fully clipped standard poodle in hot pink, with his owner. He was sharp and he knew it. Somewhere i’ve got a picture…poodle on parade.

      You know I want to see that photo! I’ve come across several hot pink fully clipped standard poodles in my day but it was long ago and I didn’t have the presence of mind to snap a photo with them. That would never happen today!
