Framed bird sculpture made from spare jewelry parts! This is a good one!

I snatched this within seconds of walking into Joan of Arc thrift shop. It’s price tag was $3.00 and is spare jewelry parts on crushed green velvet. Size is 11 x 14 from one edge of the frame to the other and actual velvet piece is 9 x 12.

Up close shot of the bird. I’m loving the headpiece that the bird is wearing here.

I don’t buy any of these types of fabrications but I’m always completely fascinated by them. I like this one especially because of the use of pearl necklaces. Sometimes, especially when these things are made of watch parts, the placement can get a little haphazard. But this one was really thought out. It’s a very elegant and happy bird indeed!

I ended up putting this bird aside. I am so guilty of impulsive purchases. I don’t think spending $3.00 will kill me. I just feel sorry for the unsuspecting friend who will end up getting this in the mail.

Oh man, I’m so glad to hear you also send your friends your impulsive purchases. I’ve been good for a while but I’m such a problem for my friends– they just have to SEE it. Of course I could send them a picture but they really have to SEE IT!

This is a really really gorgeous bird though. I love the shape of its head and the color choices so so much.

Hey Mooshe – any of us here at awmok.com would love to be your problem! Instead of sending greeting cards and that sort of thing, I send packages to my friends. I love doing it. Nothing says hello to friends like a package filled with kitsch.

This bird is not normally something I would hang here but I really love the design of it and the various bits of jewels.
