Elfen Crafts by Number

Last night when I was at my son’s home in Rancho Cucamonga,  I spotted this panel on the fireplace mantel.  I was told it was purchased from an antique store in Pomona.  I’m pretty sure it was a kit, but nevertheless gluing little bitty color-coordinated pebbles to a piece of wood takes a lot of patience and tenacity.  The latter is my strong suit of the two, so I salute whomever took the time to make this happen, even if by number.  It kinda looks like a caricature of his toy yorkie, “Diego,” my buddy in crime when I visit.

I love gravel art and my Kitsch O’ The Day is just that! But neither of what I posted are as excellent as this silly little elf. https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2011/03/23/allee-willis%E2%80%99-kitsch-o%E2%80%99-the-day-%E2%80%93-1960s-pretty-girl-gravel-art/

Good thing he wasn’t my son or I would’ve stolen it!

Although much of gravel art was indeed made from kits, this one could’ve been store-bought as most of the kits covered the entire background. Are there any markings at all on the back?

I can’t stand it! So far today I’ve already hit the jealous button once and looks like I will again! Mark, this is fab!

I love the name “Diego” for a tiny yorkie!

Allee I texted my son Steve and he looked and there’s no markings of any kind on the back of the panel, but it does make sense if it was store bought that it might’ve had a sticker that has since been removed or worn off.

Thanks, Denny, Steve should put things on here himself, but he’s pretty shy.

He’ll be happy with the comments, thanks!
